WorkBC’s Find Your Fit event will be at the Cumberland Community school today (Thursday, March 1). It will be open to the public from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Organizers say the event is a great way for students to get valuable hands-on experience with helpful career-planning tools.

“Events like Find Your Fit in Cumberland help students learn about career options and the education and training they need to get started,” said Melanie Mark, minister of advanced education, skills and training, in a statement. “This event is about opening the doors of possibility for the next generation.”

Students can visit up to 16 career-activity stations where they can take part in hands-on, career-related activities. These will include creating digital graphics, completing an electrical circuit and taking someone’s blood pressure.

The activities will help students uncover their strengths and interests, and give them the knowledge they need to get started with their career planning. They can then move on to a labour market information station, where they can dig deeper into a career of their choice.

“The career activity stations at the Find Your Fit tour give our students and members of our community an opportunity to try out possible careers,” said Scott Fraser, MLA for Mid Island-Pacific Rim. “These Find Your Fit tours help light the way with information on the right training and education for in-demand careers.”
