Victoria bands taking over Port Renfrew next weekend

Tall Tree Music Festival: year two concerts approaching
Jets Overhead headline the Tall Tree Music Festival in Port Renfrew June 24-25.

Next weekend an eclectic mix of Victoria musicians – from rock to folk to surf pop – head to Port Renfrew for a festival aimed at showcasing West Coast talent and supporting sustainable development.

Or as Adam Kittredge, lead singer for headliner Jets Overhead, puts it: “It’s basically going to be a big camping trip with a whole bunch of friends.”

The band is taking some time away from writing to play the Tall Tree Music Festival, June 24-25 at Browns Mountain in Port Renfrew. Weekend performers include Vince Vaccaro, Aiden Knight, Quoia, Mindil Beach Markets, Sunday Buckets, Long Walk Short Dock and others.

With the festival’s goal of preserving old growth forest in mind, organizers Radio Contact Productions and the Tall Tree Music Festival Society will donate a substantial portion of event proceeds to the Ancient Forest Alliance and the Port Renfrew Chamber of Commerce.

“Last year the people that attended the festival, made the festival,” said Radio Contact’s Mike Roma, also co-organizer of Song and Surf, a similar winter festival in Port Renfrew.

More details and weekend tickets ($100 including camping) are available online at and at Coastline Surf & Sport (1417 Broad St.) or the McPherson box office.
