Book lovers are being asked to step through the iconic red Dutch door at least one more time before Beacon Books closes down permanently.

The owners of the Sidney institution since 1996 announced that it had been closed and they were going to be closed after Jan. 31, 2024.

Beacon Books is owned by Clive and Christine Tanner and they proudly boasted of being a “bookstore lover’s paradise” with its 4,000 square feet of second hand, rare, out-of-print titles and collectible books, including signed and first editions.

“Thank you and farewell,” reads the message on the store’s website.
