A minor delay en route to a car fire Monday (March 4) prompted a reminder from Victoria firefighters.

The team was tasked with a blaze near Blanshard and Bay streets around 4 p.m. and while responding quickly realized the location was incorrect, the department said on social media later that day.

Luckily, the information was quickly updated, and Engine 3 circled the block to Kings Road to find and douse the blaze.

“Just a quick reminder to be as accurate as possible when calling 911 and giving information to dispatchers. While this incident worked out OK, it is easy to see how delays resulting from inaccurate information could lead to serious consequences,” the post reads.
