If you’ve ever been with a group of people trying to decide where to order pizza, you likely heard some polite but firm arguments.
People are pretty picky when it comes to pizza. Some people are monogamous to just one place and just certain toppings. Others are strictly sticking with a certain style of pizza – from Neapolitan to Chicago to New York to Greek to Sicillian.
Others will only eat pizza that’s been baked in a wood-fired oven.
Then there are the more fast-food choice in which cheese is inserted into every square inch of the pie, including injecting it into the crust. There’s even some places that don’t even had a crust so they can jam more cheese into the box.
We get it.
People love their pizza a certain way.
That’s why Victoria residents are so well-served because there are so many pizza places to choose from.
The latest are some gooey concoctions created by Local Pizza, a Vancouver Island-owned company that has moved into town in a big way with multiple locations, including downtown Victoria on Douglas and a new one that’s opening soon in Saanich at McKenzie and Shelbourne.
Local Pizza prides itself as being, well, local to the Island, and for sourcing fresh local ingredients.
Local Pizza, however, has stiff competition in Victoria.
First, there’s the big chains like Panago and Pizza Hut, but for the purposes of this list, we’re sticking with independently owned.
Like Romeo’s, which has built a large following thanks to 50 years in business.
Ali Baba has multiple locations and does pizza as well as donairs.
Sarpino’s is also well-known after many years in business.
