Black Press has confirmed that long-time weatherman and broadcast journalist Bruce Williams is no longer employed by Bell Media, which owns CTV Vancouver Island.

Williams was part of a "restructuring plan" with Bell Media that was initiated across the country.

The View Royal resident is an avid supporter of the United Way Greater Victoria and the B.C. Cancer Foundation among many other charitable endeavours. He is also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee medal.

According to Williams, he will continue to be actively involved in the community.

"I will continue with all the non profit commitments I have," he said to the Victoria News. "They are activities I believe make a significant difference."
