Calgary fugitive nabbed by Victoria Police Department

Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team descends on Johnson Street property Wednesday afternoon

The Victoria Police Department arrested a Calgary man wanted on Western Canada-wide warrants this week, less than 24 hours after Calgary police put out the call for help.

Kodi Hemeon-Graham, 24, was arrested in the 900-block of Johnson St. Wednesday afternoon by VicPD officers and members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team.

Warrants were issued for Hemeon-Graham after he failed to appear in Alberta court on weapons and home invasion charges.

A search of the residence in which the man was staying also turned up nearly $4,000 cash, a small quantity of cocaine and two prohibited weapons, said Bowen Osoko, VicPD spokesman.

Hemeon-Graham is being held on an extended 6-day application warrant to prepare him to return to Calgary.

“Criminals who flee justice may think they can hide out in 'sleepy' Victoria,” Focused Enforcement Team member Const. Chris Gillespie said. If you run and try hide out here, we’ll find you and we’ll send you home. There is no vacation from justice here.”
