CFB Esquimalt celebrates new fire hall

The new CFB Esquimalt Fire Hall and Emergency Response Centre was officially opened Friday.

CFB Esquimalt officially opened their new Base Fire Hall and Emergency Response Centre with a march by firefighters, a few speeches, live demonstrations and tours of the facility Friday morning.

Events got underway with march by uniformed firefighters escorted by fire vehicles along Esquimalt Road to the new hall.

A number of brief speeches by dignitaries including the Commander, Royal Canadian Navy Vice Admiral Paul Maddison and the Associate Minister of National Defence Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay followed. Findlay was then called upon to ring the station bell officially opening the hall.

Attendees were then able to watch live demonstrations by the staff and take a tour of the state of the art facilities.
