A cyclist is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a vehicle late Tuesday night.
Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle incident involving a cyclist at the intersection of Blanchard and Finalyson streets after 11 p.m. last night.
After arriving on scene, officers discovered that the cyclist appeared to have been thrown a significant distance. Evidence suggests that the victim was not wearing a helmet, did not have a light on his bike and was wearing dark clothing.
According to VicPD, early indications are that the cyclists also may have failed to stop for a red light at the intersection.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police.
VicPD's traffic section is investigating.
