Tracy and Johnny Sparkles will celebrate Easter at Our Place.

Local politicians join Our Place volunteers to serve more than 1,000 Easter meals to the city’s homeless and working poor on Thursday (April. 17).

Special guests and politicians will roll up their sleeves to dish out a full meal of turkey, potatoes, garden veg and all the trimmings.

“Easter is a time of transformation, celebration and belonging,” said Don Evans, executive director of Our Place.

“Serving a special meal to those who might otherwise go without is just one small way of showing that we are here to listen, share and support.”

The kitchen at Our Place expects to serve a hearty meal consisting of 1,000 lbs. of turkey, 500 lbs. of potatoes, 250 lbs. of stuffing, 200 lbs. of vegetables, 25 gallons of gravy, 55 lbs. of cranberry sauce and 1,500 cups of coffee.

The Easter Meal is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Our Place Society, 919 Pandora Ave.
