A U.S. fishing trawler collided with a docked navy frigate this morning at CFB Esquimalt around 8 a.m.

The American Dynasty slammed into HMCS Winnipeg while it was docked at "C" Jetty, according to a statement from Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters.

"The collision happened when the fishing vessel was going into dry dock," said Jillian Glover, Transport Canada spokeswoman.

Six people were transported to Victoria General Hospital with minor injuries, said Kelsey Carwithen, spokeswoman with B.C. Ambulance Service.
