There were 44,588,324,077 blossoms counted in the 44th Greater Victoria Flower Count.

That’s almost six times as many humans as are on the planet.

If every human on the planet came to Greater Victoria, they could get five blossoms each and squabble over the remaining 6,135,769,627.

“Victoria has an amazing array of flowers, trees and manicured gardens,” said Lisa Helps, mayor of Victoria. “The blossoms are a signature image of Victoria and our residents are passionate about their gardens. It is no surprise our committed residents were able to submit the highest count.”

Saanich was the runner-up this year with 14,500,799,300 blossoms counted.
