The Trans-Canada Highway is fully reopened after a crash earlier Monday (Aug. 15) afternoon, but drivers are warned to expect delays.

Emcon Services Inc.’s South Island Division posted an update to Twitter at 3:32 p.m. advising that the northbound lane was reopened. The lane was closed following a northbound crash that happened around 1 p.m. involving a commercial truck and trailer that went into the ditch between West Shore Parkway and Finlayson Arm Road.

The closure was in place from about 1:45 until 3:30 p.m. as Emcon recovered the vehicle.

Traffic is still backed up because of the closure and the highway contractor warned of delays.

The DriveBC traffic cameras still show traffic backed up along Highway 1 past Millstream Road.
