Three banks were robbed in three days, and Victoria police say one man is likely responsible.
The first robbery happened just after noon on Feb. 4 at the Royal Bank at 1079 Douglas St. An unshaven man, 40 to 45 years old, passed a note to a teller, indicating he had a gun and demanded cash. Witnesses say he got away in a green BMW. He wore a Toronto Maple Leafs hat and sunglasses.
The following day, at 10:30 a.m., a man of a similar description, minus the cap and glasses, told a teller at the Royal Bank at 1501 Douglas St. branch he had a gun, received some money and made off on foot.
On Tuesday, the Scotia Bank at 2669 Douglas St. was robbed under similar circumstances.
Packers fan choked, robbed
A man was choked unconscious and robbed after a Super Bowl party last weekend.
The 31-year-old was walking home from the party after a few drinks at about 4 a.m. Monday, near North Park and Cook streets when another man asked him for a cigarette, then
locked him in a choke hold. The man blacked out.
Next thing the
man remembers is waking up on the sidewalk with his wallet, keys and cellphone stolen.
Liquor store robbed with knife
A man with a big knife robbed Swans Wine and Beer Shoppe last weekend.
On Sunday at 5 p.m., the man demanded cash and fled on foot. Store staff followed him up Pandora Avenue, through Fan Tan Alley and onto Fisgard Street, where they lost him.
The suspect is 30-40 years old, 5’10” with pale skin, dark eyes and facial hair.
