Four days of public hearings on Esquimalt's approval of a wastewater treatment plant at McLoughlin Point finally concluded on Saturday.
More than 100 residents from Esquimalt, Saanich, Victoria and elsewhere in the Capital Region addressed council on Feb. 18 and 19 and March 20 and 22.
"In my lifetime, we haven't had a public hearing to this extent," said Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins. "It speaks to the community engagement of our residents."
Council will not be able to receive any further information before it votes on approving the development application for McLoughlin Point on April 7.
The McLoughlin facility is part of the Capital Regional District's $783-million secondary sewage treatment project, the Seaterra program.
