Skittles is starting to settle into his forever home.
Just two days before Valentine’s Day, the young Shih Tzu/Jack Russell/Pug cross, who was revived by a shot of naloxone, was adopted by a Victoria family.
The family has another dog from the Victoria Humane Society, and are happy to have Skittles join them.
Skittles was originally brought to the Victoria Humane Society after his previous owner brought him to the VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital in January. The then five-week-old puppy was unresponsive and vets couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him.
Luckily the vet on scene, Christin McIntyre, thought to use naloxone on the pup who bounced back immediately.

Since then, Skittles has been living with a foster family in the Highlands.
“He recovered really well, though the first week he was very needy,” said Penny Stone, executive director of the Victoria Humane Society. “He would cry if you weren’t holding him.”
Since then he adjusted nicely with his foster family and is now blending in with his forever family.
Stone said Skittles is doing great with his adoptive family and even got his first chance to play in the snow.
