UPDATE: Uptown area crash sees car flipped in Saanich intersection

Intersection of Saanich Road and Oak Street reopened to public

Saanich police were still on scene late morning after a crash at Saanich Road and Oak Street left a car on its roof just after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

After the crash the small sedan sat upside down, airbags deployed, in the intersection next to the McDonald’s restaurant. Saanich police said in a statement a car travelling east on Saanich Road struck a car turning left onto Oak Street. The impact caused the turning car to roll over.

Paramedics transported the occupants of both vehicles to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Crash analysts were gathering evidence from the scene as part of their investigation. Traffic was diverted from the intersection after emergency responders arrived, and police expected officers to remain until noon.
