Apartment dwellers in Cook Street Village received a rude awakening this morning when a man tried to kick in their front doors.

Officers were called to the 200-block of Cook St. around 2 a.m. by two separate tenants, who said an aggressive man was attempting to break through their doors.

Minutes later, police began a foot chase of the suspect near Oxford and Chapman streets.

The man was eventually found hiding in bushes in the 1100-block of Chapman St., in possession of an unstated amount of cocaine.

A 23-year-old Duncan man faces recommended charges of break and enter, escaping lawful custody and possession of a controlled substance.
