Weekend weather breaks record in Victoria

Temperatures down at the harbour broke a record that was set back in the 1800’s.

If you thought the May long weekend was a hot one, you were right!

Thousands of people enjoyed some fun in the sun, before turning out in Victoria for the annual parade on Monday. That’s when temperatures reached a balmy 24 degrees by the mid-afternoon.

But down at the harbour, the temperature was even higher and broke a record that had stood for more than 130 years.

According to Environment Canada, it reached 26.4 degrees at Victoria Harbour. This broke the previous record set in 1879.

And don’t expect the sunshine to end any time soon. With the exception of some windy weather this evening and cloudy patches on Wednesday, the forecast is calling for highs above 20 degrees right through to next week.
