Call for ban to animal events at Luxton Rodeo

Annual event prompts annual call for support of pulling animal events

May long weekend is approaching and with it the annual Luxton Pro Rodeo held in Langford which includes events such as calf-roping, steer wrestling and the use of items like flank straps to encourage the wild bucking of docile bulls and horses.

These events have been banned by other municipalities, including Vancouver, and are not supported by the BCSPCA, other animal welfare organizations or local veterinarians. Please tell your local politicians, event sponsors and rodeo officials that in 2013 you support an evolved community event that does not cause fear, stress and risk of injury and death to animals.
