Fiscal challenges need to be addressed by B.C. political parties

Cities, regions, provinces and federal jurisdictions are awash in laughable fiscal mismanagement

Re: Fleming gives NDP best chance in 2017 (vicnews.com, Letters)

Perchance instead of seeking out a ‘youthful leader’ type, a political party at all levels could put forward a policy to show how they would drive down the debt and not simply imply their hope to lower the yearly deficit.

This would involve, for at least a decade, the raising of all tax levels and substantial cuts to all departments.

The usual whine of, “it’s 70 per cent service provision” could be met with “then the area to cut is the 30 per cent.”

Cities, regions, provinces and federal jurisdictions are awash in laughable fiscal mismanagement.

Every voter should have a photo of an unrelated newborn beside their beds to awaken and fall asleep to.

The answer to the overriding question would be: What am I doing to ensure this child’s future when he/she hits adulthood?

The issue was never addressed before.
