Coach resigns from Vikes women's b-ball program

Brian Cheng has stepped down from the UVic Vikes women’s basketball program. The head coach led the team for 10 years.

“Coach Cheng worked hard to prepare our teams for a highly competitive Canada West schedule,” said Clint Hamilton, the director of athletics and recreation.

Cheng was an assistant coach to Kathy Shields for five years before taking over for the 2001-02 season.

During that time the Vikes won the CIS championship in 2003 and posted a conference record of 120-91.

Assistant coach Dani Everett will assume the day-to-day operations for the program until a new coach is found.
