Grizzlies clinch first, open playoffs tonight in Colwood vs. Dogs

First overall in B.C. Hockey League eludes Victoria squad

They may have lost the overall B.C. Hockey League title, but the Victoria Grizzlies ended the regular season on a winning note, beating Cowichan Valley 5-2 last Saturday at The Q Centre (formerly Bear Mountain Arena).

The win gave the Grizzlies (37-15-3-3) a two-point margin over Powell River atop the Island Division and put them in a first-round best-of-seven playoff matchup with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The Grizzlies host the Bulldogs in Game 1 tonight at 7:15 p.m.at The Q Centre, with Game 2 set for the same time tomorrow night. The teams head to Port Alberni for Games 3 and 4 Friday and Saturday. Game 5, if necessary, would be played in Colwood on Monday, March 10.
