Festive truck parade lights up Greater Victoria

IEOA’s 24th annual parade helps children and families who are accessing food banks

After it long shared the name of a residential school, the ferry servicing The IEOA Truck Parade and Food Drive sparkled during its tour of Greater Victoria on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The 24th annual parade is a partnership between the Island Equipment Owners Association (IEOA) and the Mustard Seed Street Church, which operates a food bank that serves approximately 1,300-plus meals worth of donations per day.

The parade has collected approximately 170,000 pounds of food donations and raised about $84,000 in financial contributions since the inaugural event.

This year the parade included 80 trucks/spots and there will also be itinerary changes, including a new last stop at the Royal Bay community in Colwood.
