The Gorge Canada Day Picnic in Saanich made its return July 1 and thousands of people of all ages took advantage of the beautiful weather and multitude of offerings to take in the event Friday.
After being cancelled the past two years due to restrictions on gathering, the multifaceted community event was back in full swing on Gorge Road West between Tillicum and Admirals roads.

It featured everything from music of various genres at both ends of the venue, the Lekwungen Dancers, ethnic foods, family friendly and kids activities including road hockey, soccer and climbing on inflatables, the popular Gorge on Art display from local artists, the Canada Day market, free canoe and dragon boat rides courtesy of the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club, the Strawberry Tea and more.
