Youth in Victoria have a chance to develop their entrepreneurial spirit and create their own micro venture with the help of the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria.
Kidovate is a free, hands-on youth entrepreneurship program for school-age youth (aged 12 to 18), developed and delivered by UVic entrepreneurship professor J. Brock Smith.

“An entrepreneurial mindset provides youth with the skills to adapt to a changing world, and helps them learn to take initiative, meet challenges, and become financially independent architects of their own future,” said Smith.
During the program, youth are guided – by a graphic novel workbook and mentors – through the process of making a product of their choice and selling it to the public at Kidovate market stalls in malls across Victoria on May 25.

Central to the experience, according to Kidovate, is instilling a sense of corporate social responsibility in the young entrepreneurs. Each participant is encouraged to pledge a portion of their profits to a charity of their choice.
