Drivers should anticipate delays on Sunday (Feb. 4) as the Wounded Warriors Run, a one-day event, takes place from Sooke to Sidney.
The run, organized to honour and support Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, first responders, and their families, begins at 10 a.m. from the Royal Canadian Legion in Sooke.
The runners, representing a team of military and first responders from Vancouver Island, are expected to reach the end of the “original four lanes” near the Co-op Gas Station in Langford around noon.

The safety of all participants is paramount, so the public is asked to follow the guidance provided by support vehicle officials and provide runners with ample space to ensure a smooth event.
Officials advise motorists to plan their travel accordingly and consider possible alternative routes.
The one-day run serves as a prelude to the main Wounded Warriors Run event, spanning eight days and covering 600 kilometres from Port Hardy in the north to Victoria at the southern end of Vancouver Island.
The relay-style run involves a dedicated team raising more than $150,000 for programs and training to support the mental health of first responders, military personnel, RCMP, and their families.
