Art therapy school hosting paint fest, auction in Vic West
A Victoria art therapy training school is hoping to raise its profile and some money with a paint-in and auction this weekend.
The B.C. School of Art Therapy in Vic West is hosting its first Valentine’s Paint-In auction fundraiser on Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
Painters not related to the school are welcome to join the paint-in, which runs until 2 p.m. both days. Artists are asked to supply their own canvass, paper and art materials.
Starting at 3 p.m. are a live auction and silent auction, open to the public. Proceeds go to the not-for-profit school. The live auction sells the art made from both days’ paint-ins and a silent auction includes items such as a year’s supply of bread from Cobs Bread and a $50 gift basket from Island Blue.
The B.C. School of Art Therapy trains students who have completed a psychology, counselling or fine arts degree with post-graduate diplomas or certificates.
