Cyclist injured in Langford crash with off-duty cop in unmarked police car

The provincial police oversight organization is investigating after a man on a bike and an off-duty RCMP officer collided March 20.

The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO), which investigates police actions where someone is hurt or killed, was called in after a man sustained injuries in an incident with an off-duty RCMP member in Langford.

Information provided by the RCMP states that around 2:25 p.m. on March 20 the officer was driving an unmarked police vehicle southbound in the 2500-block of Millstream Road when there was a collision with the man on the bike.

The man sustained serious injuries in the collision, according to the March 25 IIO news release

The police watchdog was notified the next day.
