Support is a team sport and south Island firefighters take that message to the streets Monday afternoon.

Members of Victoria, Saanich, Esquimalt, Oak Bay, Langford, Colwood and View Royal fire departments will be stationed around the Greater Victoria collecting funds to contribute directly to communities and firefighter families impacted by recent wildfires.

All donations go to West Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society and the Maui Firefighters Charitable Society.

“We ask our community to join us as we attempt to share some of the burden that has been placed on these communities. The history of the fire department has been built on an ideal that we are stronger together than we are individually,” Victoria Fire Rescue posted on social media. “Help us show these two communities what we can accomplish when we join together.”

Find them from 3 to 7 p.m. at Save on Foods (Fort and Foul Bay and Vic West), BC Liquor (Fort and Foul Bay), Red Barn Markets (James Bay, Oak Bay Avenue), Starbucks (Cook Street Village), Market on Yates, Thrifty Foods (Hillside, Fairfield, James Bay), The Beagle Pub, Irish Times Pub and The Local Pub.
