Cyclists stage their latest critical mass ride calling for better infrastructure in Oak Bay on Monday (Sept. 11).

The rides aim to push council to consider its cycling infrastructure for all ages and abilities.

Specific concerns include no parking in bike lanes, an anomaly that occurs in Oak Bay on Henderson Road near the University of Victoria.

They’re also calling for protected bike lanes on busy routes, improved cycling amenities and alignment with other Greater Victoria municipalities.

The idea is to arrive ahead of council, which meets at 6 p.m. for a closed or “in-camera” meeting, then reconvenes for its usual 7 p.m. council meeting.

Riders rally at the corner of Ring Road and University Avenue (the south entrance to UVic) at 5 p.m., then ride to Oak Bay municipal hall at 2167 Oak Bay Ave.
