Saanich police clock 2 drivers travelling at excessive speeds on Highway 17

Traffic enforcement on the Pat Bay Highway during the final days of August has netted the Saanich Police Department at least two drivers travelling at excessive speeds.

The department took to social media to remind motorists of how fast too fast is.

While doing enforcement in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 17, officers clocked one driver travelling at 142 km/h on Aug. 26 and a second at 138 km/h on Aug. 28.

Both drivers were given tickets and fines of $368 for excessive speeds and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.

As of Aug. 29, the department had impounded 11 vehicles in total in August for excessive speeding.
