Sidney/North Saanich RCMP blocked a section of Lands End Road for several hours on Monday, July 10.

Crash closes Lands End Road in North Saanich

Police say it was a single vehicle crash that led to the closure

Updated: Tues. July 10 at 2 p.m.

A significant crash Monday afternoon completely closed Lands End Road in North Saanich. Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said the road is closed between West Saanich Road and the intersection with the Pat Bay Highway.

In an update Tuesday, Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said it was due to a single vehicle collision. A preliminary investigation determined that a gray Jeep SUV traveled off the north side of Lands End Road and came to a stop among several trees. The driver, a 71-year old North Saanich woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital where she remains in critical condition.

North Saanich Fire, BC Ambulance, Victim Services, and an RCMP traffic analyst were on the scene.

The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP are looking for witnesses who came upon the scene or observed the Jeep driving before the collision, and they can be contacted at 250 656 3931, or people can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
