Downtown Victoria street closing to vehicles, cyclists for new festival

Fort Street, between Vancouver and Cook, will be closed to vehicles and cyclists this Saturday for a new free downtown event – Upper Fort StreetFest.

This event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is sponsored by Volve Cars Victoria.

There will be an adult beverage garden by Bear & Joey, a market of local artisans, a silent disco, live music, a dunk tank, a bouncy castle, art activities, drag story time and two photobooths, including one focused on dogs.

The surrounding businesses will offer sales, demonstrations and more to show off their beloved block. .

Here is a list of some of the fun planned for the day:

Kid-centered art activities with Poppet Creative and SUPPLY Victoria using recycled materials.

An art activity with Splatters Art Studio.

Drag story time with a local drag queen at 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Balloon twisting and facepainting with JJ Entertainers from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

A silent disco from 2 to 3 p.m.

Donald Dunphy’s Magic Show at 4:15 p.m.

A Chill Lounge and phone charging station, plus Spin-to-Win with Used.ca.

Emceeing by local drag queen Ghost of Judith.

A bike valet by Capital Bike.
