February sees extreme weather records

The highs and lows of February

February was the snowiest on record in Greater Victoria — ever. But that’s not the only weather-related extreme we saw last month.

The highest temperature was recorded on Feb. 1 at 9.3 C and the lowest was -7.2 C on Feb. 14.

The day with the most snowfall was on Feb 11. with 26.4 centimetres.

The following day, Feb. 12, saw the most snow accumulation at 47 centimetres.

In a 24-hour period, Greater Victoria saw more snow than Mount Washington and broke the 2014 record.

Experiencing 12.6 millimetres of precipitation on the first of the month was the most rain February saw.

The strongest wind Greater Victoria felt was 68 kilometres per hour on Feb. 9.

The lowest windchill felt was -12.2 C on Valentine’s Day.

All temperatures were recorded at the Victoria International Airport.
