Grass-cutters could be tricksters

Two teens offering to cut grass for a good cause might not have well-meaning intentions after all, police say.

Two teens knocked at the door of a house on Walnut Street in Fernwood April 11, offering to cut the property’s grass for a donation to Cops for Cancer. The two boys, aged 12 or 13, said they were Rockheights middle school students and had a Cadillac-like lawnmower.

Suspicious of the fancy machine, the homeowner called Rockheights, which denied knowledge of the boys. When she confronted them, the boys couldn’t offer an explanation, police say.

When police arrived 30 minutes later, the boys couldn’t be found.
