Another Greater Victoria firefighter is working in the B.C. north.
Capt. Noah Elam of the Saanich Fire Department was deployed to Fort St. John on a request for support from the BC Wildfire Service as a task force leader, according to the department.
Elam was part of a team that rescued seven ducklings from a parking lot and storm drain recently, reuniting them with their mother in a nearby pond.

A Central Saanich crew, Tender 2, left Monday to help battle wildfires in the same region. That department updated its progress with a social media post Friday, noting Tender 2 is part of a strike team, with five other tenders including Gabriola and Cowichan Bay fire departments.
According to Central Saanich, this is the first time BC Wildfire has set up a tender strike force.
As of Friday (May 19) at noon, the province has 72 active wildfires with 44 of them in the Prince George Fire Centre, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
