Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens is reopening after a change in management.
Forager Foundation took over the interim contract in May and will be hosting its first public event on June 24.
“When Forager Foundation was asked to take an interim contract to keep the doors open at Point Ellice House, we were excited,” Forager Foundation founder and president Bryce Mathew Watts said in a news release. “Now, we are ready to welcome the community through the doors.”
The event is an opportunity for the public to check out the site and learn about its future.
“Point Ellice House belongs to the people of British Columbia, and we are committed to keeping this important heritage site open for locals and visitors,” B.C. Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Lana Popham said in the statement. “We are excited the Forager Foundation will reopen this special heritage site and continue to keep its important history accessible to everyone.”
Point Ellice House closed in March because of a lack of funding.
