Woman with cane robbed near Victoria police headquarters

Woman uninjured after scuffle with purse-snatching thief Tuesday morning

Victoria police are seeking public help after a mid-morning purse snatching near the 800-block of Caledonia Ave.

Around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman with a cane was robbed by a man with "bad teeth and a sunken face" while walking down an alley between North Park and Caledonia streets, she told Victoria police officers.

The man kicked the woman's cane and knocked her to the ground before fleeing with her purse.

"Thankfully, the victim was uninjured and was able to provide a very detailed description of the suspect," said VicPD Const. Mike Russell.

The suspect is described as Caucasian in his 40s, approximately six feet tall and 190 pounds. He was described as unshaven with dark hair, bad teeth and a sunken face, and was wearing a dark blue hoodie with a dark jacket on top, a green baseball hat and sunglasses.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant information is asked to call VicPD's non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.
