LETTER: Victoria a victim of development

Thank you Travis Paterson for writing a piece regarding tree removal in Victoria.

As far as the claim that citizens have not spoken up or have shed “crocodile tears”, as Doug Grant has claimed, I think the reason for outcry is that people’s tolerances are reaching the tipping point. They have put up with the stripping for development as the cost for living in a growing city.

Don’t kid yourself that the disgusting clear cut done for the developments has not been noticed. It is hideous and is a spike in my heart every time I drive past. The tree removal on Douglas by Mayfair mall is equally sad.

This used to be a pretty city, the garden city, where people took pride in the trees that lined our streets. So please know, the tears that I shed for flora and beauty lost have no reptilian origins and are most sincere.
