Falcons gymnasts swoop to medal performances in Duncan

Orca Invitational meet in Duncan sees four Falcons gymnasts win all-around gold

Competitive members of the Falcon Gymnastics Club in Saanich piled up the medals at their first major meet of the season, the Orca Invitational in Duncan.

Of the 18 Falcon athletes who made the trip, four won gold all-around medals for cumulative point totals. They included Emma Olenick in P1 level open (15-over), Emma Longbottom in P2 novice (age 13-14), Adelene Buchanan in P2 open and Emily Schmidt in P3 novice. Each athlete earned various medals in their respective individual events to capture top spot overall in their category.

Among other Falcon gymnasts collecting medals, Mia Butcher won gold in P2 Tyro (age 11-12) on vault and uneven bars; Emily Lyall (P2 Novice) grabbed gold on bars and silver in floor exercise and Makena Spanier (P3 Open) earned bronze in floor, bars, vault and beam.  In P3 novice, Kiana Pheiffer won bronze on vault.

In P1 argo (age 8-10), Isabella Conforti took the silver on vault, while newcomer Ella Kendler, on bars, and Veronica Chu, on beam, collected bronze.
