What is dementia, and how does it affect individuals, their care partners and their support network?
Those issues will be reviewed for Victoria families when the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C. offers the free workshop Understanding Dementia.
“Participants will receive basic information about dementia and the impact this disease has on the individual, caregivers and families,” said Emily Pridham, the society’s First Link coordinator for Victoria.
“You will have an opportunity to learn about the diagnosis, different programs and services available in the community, the importance of planning for the future, and strategies for living well.”
The workshop is designed for people with a diagnosis of dementia, care partners, and family members.
It runs twice, on Saturday (Jan. 7) and Thursday (Jan. 12), from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Alzheimer Resource Centre’s meeting room, 202-306 Burnside Road W. at Tillicum Road.
