Swiftsure yacht race raises anchor and sets sail at Clover Point, Victoria

The race’s final stage will end at Ship Point and Ogden Point

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club started its ‘Swiftsure’ international yacht race on Thursday, May 24.

More than 130 boats will be participating in the competition with racing to commence on Saturday, May 25.

Participants in the race will arrive at the Inner Harbour Causeway between Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24. Boating enthusiasts can visit the docks until 5 p.m.

Spectators can view the action from Clover Point from 10 a.m. onwards and a pancake breakfast served by the Central Saanich Lions Club from 9 a.m.

Fans can access Clover Point on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport. Cars will be restricted, and a live broadcast will be available for those who cannot attend in person.

The race’s final stage will end at Ship Point and Ogden Point late on Saturday. The best view of the race can be enjoyed from the Ogden Point Breakwater.
