Langford teen Chelsea Weigel has been missing since Aug. 30 and West Shore RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating her.

Chelsea Weigel was last seen Aug. 30 and is known to frequent downtown Victoria and James Bay ares.

The 17-year-old teen is five-foot-five inches tall and weighs 160 pounds and has short dark brown hair. West Shore RCMP officers are following tips and leads hoping to locate the Langford teen.

RCMP is concerned Weigel's disappearance has to do with a "high-risk lifestyle," said Cst. Chris Dovell, West Shore RCMP.

Police say Chelsea has run away from home in the past but can't say for certain if that is the case this time. She is known to frequent downtown Victoria and James Bay and her family is concerned about her whereabouts.

While no one has physically seen or spoken to Weigel since Aug. 30, she has made contact with family via social media sites including Facebook.

Her last Facebook message to family was on Sept. 18 and no one has heard from her since.

RCMP are asking anyone with any information on Chelsea's whereabouts to call the detachment at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
