Tracy Dawn Smith will serve nearly two years in jail after a fatal motorcycle crash Canada Day 2011
In December Smith was sentenced to one day in jail and three years probation after pleading guilty to impaired driving causing the death of Janarthan Mahenthiran.
Criminal Justice Branch filed an Application for Leave to Appeal from Sentence.
On April 17, Smith's sentence was increased to two years less one day followed by three years of probation.
Since the crash Smith has been living at VisionQuest Recovery Society in Surrey. She has been sober and free of illegal drugs since the crash, according to her supervisors, who also say she’s been an exemplary resident.
