Speeding motorist stuns seasoned Victoria police officers

Driver was clocked going over 80 km/h – more than double the 30 km/h limit

A woman caught whipping through a school zone at Quadra elementary on Tuesday shocked Victoria traffic officers.

The 43-year-old driver was clocked going over 80 km/h – more than double the 30 km/h limit – in the 1000-block of Finlayson St. while school was in, just before 2 p.m.

“I have never seen speed that high in a school zone before,” said traffic officer Sgt. Glen Shiels. “When the officers initiated the stop, she was still accelerating.”

The driver was slapped with a $368 ticket, and her Mazda sedan was towed.
