Oak Bay village feel not easily replaced

The present setting has charm, with small street-level shops and a friendly atmosphere

Re: Revolutionary vision for Village (News, Feb. 26).

While Bill Smith may have a vision for Oak Bay illage, I suggest he reflect on the damage this could inflict.

The present setting has charm, with small street-level shops and a friendly atmosphere which invites strolling. This is not easily replaced. What would happen to all the shops and amenities while his “vision” is being built? It would devastate the village.

He also says the municipal hall is earthquake prone. What evidence does he have that it is in more danger than any of the surrounding buildings?

I agree with the mayor there is no need for this kind of reorganization and urge residents not to support fundraising by Bill Smith.
