Royals' Vollrath nominated for goalie award

Victoria Royals' Coleman Vollrath nominated as the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week.

The Western Hockey League today announced that Victoria Royals’ goaltender Coleman Vollrath has been nominated by the WHL for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week.

The 6-0, 174 lb netminder from Calgary, AB appeared in three games for the Royals this past week and registered a 3-0-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), a 0.970 save percentage (SV%) and two shutouts.

Vollrath backstopped the Royals to a 6-3 win over the Kelowna Rockets who are the second ranked team in the CHL. He would follow-up with back-to-back shutouts with 2-0 and 3-0 victories over the Vancouver Giants.

The 1995-born goaltender set the franchise’s all-time record for shutouts in a season with six and also extended Victoria’s all-time franchise mark for team shutouts in a campaign to eight.

In 52 games with Victoria this season, Vollrath has posted a 28-14-3-1 record with a GAA of 2.97, a SV% of 0.905 and six shutouts.

Vollrath is in his third WHL season and has registered a mark of 52-34-4-4 to go along with seven shutouts, a 2.87 GAA, and a 0.909 SV% in 113 games played.
