This year’s hot summer could limit trees so order early, suggests Lisette Hay of teh Oak Bay Preschool annual Christmas tree sale.

“Over the last three years, our family been a part of Oak Bay Preschool and participated in the Christmas Tree Sale and I’ve been approached by multiple tree supporters who were families of the preschool and selling trees themselves years ago,” says Lisette Hay. “This Christmas Tree Sale has become a holiday tradition for many community members here in Oak Bay.”

The preschool is run entirely by the ECE and parents of the preschool. All parents have a job in the preschool and work rotating duty days in the classroom. All proceeds help to cover all operational aspects of the preschool from rent and utilities to the crafts, toys, and outdoor equipment that make the preschool a creative haven for the kids.

“This year all of BC and the west coast of the States are having a tree shortage due to the dry, hot summer we had, so our numbers are limited,” Hay says. “We expect to have a similar amount as last year, but I wouldn’t wait until close to the deadline to order your tree in case we sell out early.”

They bring in the lush six- to eight-foot Douglas firs fresh cut the day before delivery from a small farm in Port Alberni. Trees are $45 and support Oak Bay Preschool Licensed co-op.

Trees must be pre-ordered and picked-up in the St. Mary’s Church parking lot at 1701 Elgin St. on Sat. Dec. 9 between 8 a.m. and noon. Arrive early to pick your favourite and get a taste for the bake sale.

Tree must be purchased in advance by Dec. 4 at oakbaypreschool.com/fundraising/.
